This week (10th – 14th February), the Farm Safety Foundation – better known as Yellow Wellies – will run their annual ‘Mind Your Head’ campaign. Now in its eighth year, ‘Mind Your Head’ seeks to encourage those who live and work in farming to have positive and open conversations about their mental health.
While UK farmers are among the best in the world, farming remains one of our country’s most hazardous industries, accounting for 1% of workers but 18% of all worker fatalities (HSE).
Research from Yellow Wellies also reveals that 95% of young farmers (under 40) believe that mental health is the biggest hidden problem facing farmers today.
Since this year’s campaign coincides with Valentine’s Day, there will be a focus on love, positivity, and resilience.
